Use your vehicle to create brand awareness and get the word out about your company. Vehicle wraps are an effective means of outdoor mobile advertising with tens of thousands of daily impressions. Vehicle wraps are designs that typically cover all sides of a vehicle and feature large, easy to read print.

Keys To Success

While vehicle wraps might a simple way to effectively advertise your business, they still require some attention to detail to be effective. If you want to maximize the return on your investment, you need to remember these few key things:

  • Sizing your image – The bigger your image, the further away people will be able to see it. When a vehicle is in motion, it can be hard to discern the details of many different small images. On the road, signs always appear smaller than they are, so it’s crucial to make sure your image is large and readable.
  • Limit the amount of text – As with small images, text is hard to read on a moving vehicle. Make sure the text is concise and to the point. The purpose of your text is to state your company’s name, logo, and contact information. Make your text tireless so the wrap lasts the anticipated life of the vehicle in your fleet.
  • Include a call to action – Your call to action could include a website address or a phone number. Without a call to action, the consumer won’t be able to follow up on their interest. You want to motivate the audience to take action.

Applying Your Wrap

Designing the right vehicle wrap is just the first part of the process. Next, you need to apply it properly to your fleet of vehicles.

If you work with a fleet management company, they can have the wrap applied for you. If your fleet is nationwide, it is best to have the wrap produced at a central location, then shipped and installed locally. Work with a designer to design the wrap. All designs based on each vehicle in your company fleet should be approved in advance of the application. Typically the designer will design the wrap on the computer for each vehicle type to ensure the wrap is clearly readable and not cut off by any body lines or door handles. The entire process usually takes a few days to complete from start to finish.

Estimating the Cost

Cost will vary depending on the extent of the wrap. Typically front door decals will cost about $400, while a ½ wrap will be in the ballpark of $2,000. A full wrap will cost about $4,000.

Other Considerations

Other cost considerations to be aware of are repair and maintenance of the wraps as well as what needs to be done to the vehicle at disposition. If your vehicle is ever in an accident, the wrap is likely to be damaged and will need to be repaired or replaced completely. Vinyl is easily patched in the case of minor accidents. When you want to get rid of the vehicle, you do not want your wrap on the vehicle. It will have to be removed from your vehicle at a cost of $300 to $1,000 depending on scope.

If you are leasing the vehicle, the cost of the wrap can be built into the lease, avoiding large up-front costs. Instead, pay for the wrap over the term of the lease as your business sees the benefits of the warp and its visibility!
