Tuesday June 27, 2017 – Ford Motor Company issued a massive recall on three years of manufactured Ford Transit vehicles.  It addresses problems Ford has had with cracked flexible driveshaft couplings. Separation of the driveshaft can result in collateral damage to the brake and fuel lines, heightening the risk of passenger injury and vehicle crash.  Users of recalled Ford Transits or of any other vehicles are urged to use the NHTSA Recall Look-Up Tool.  A NO SALE order is in effect on all new/unsold vehicles.  Dealers are unable to sell new vehicles until the order is lifted and replacement parts are approved and available.  That is expected to be months off, likely August 2017.  And there’s more…

In June of 2016, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that rental car agencies must fix any and all open safety defects on vehicles before renting them to consumers.  Federal Law now prohibits any company or dealer with fleets greater than 35 vehicles to rent unrepaired  recalled vehicles. This law protects both the consumer and fleet organizations.  This forces dealers to perform due diligence when ordering and delivering vehicles, lowering the risk of unserviced vehicles to potentially harm consumers.
